Dba, originally known as Den Blå Avis, is Denmark's leading online marketplace for buying and selling second-hand goods. Founded in 1981 by Karsten Ree, it began as a weekly printed newspaper before successfully transitioning into a massive digital platform that remains a cornerstone of the Danish circular economy.
Over the decades, the brand has undergone significant ownership changes. After being acquired by eBay in 2008, it became part of a global portfolio of classified sites. More recently, dba was acquired by Adevinta, a global leader in online classifieds headquartered in Norway. As of 2024 and beyond, following a major acquisition deal, dba is under the ultimate ownership of a consortium led by investment firms Permira and Blackstone, though it continues to operate predominantly for the Danish market with its headquarters remaining in Denmark.
