Aussie is a hair care brand that, despite its name and the iconic kangaroo logo, is not owned by an Australian company. The brand was founded in 1979 by American businessman Tom Redmond after he visited Australia and was inspired by the country's unique natural ingredients, such as macadamia nut oil and jojoba. Since its inception, the brand has marketed itself with a fun, Australian-inspired identity that appeals to a global audience.
While the brand's heart might be inspired by the Outback, its manufacturing is largely centered in Europe, particularly in France, for the UK and European markets. Ownership has migrated through several hands until it was acquired by the multinational consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 2003. Today, P&G manages Aussie's global distribution, maintaining its position as a household name in haircare while utilizing their extensive research and production facilities worldwide.
