Doritos is a global brand of flavored tortilla chips produced since 1964 by Frito-Lay, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PepsiCo. The concept was originally developed at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, where surplus tortillas were fried and seasoned.
Today, the product is manufactured in numerous countries across the globe to serve local markets. In Europe and particularly France, manufacturing is often handled at regional PepsiCo facilities. The brand remains under the ultimate ownership of PepsiCo, one of the world's largest food and beverage corporations headquartered in the United States.
