KitKat is a globally recognized chocolate-covered wafer bar. The brand was originally created by Rowntree's of York in the United Kingdom in 1935 as 'Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp', before being renamed to KitKat in 1937.
In 1988, the Swiss multinational Nestlé acquired Rowntree's, taking global ownership of the brand. Today, Nestlé manufactures KitKat in many countries including the UK, UAE, and Australia. Interestingly, in the United States, KitKat is produced under license by The Hershey Company due to a prior agreement that predated Nestlé's acquisition.
The brand has expanded significantly from its original milk chocolate roots, offering various flavors such as the White Chocolate and Hazelnut varieties visible in the image.
