Daura Damm is a multi-award-winning gluten-free lager produced by the renowned Spanish brewery S.A. Damm. Originally launched in 2006, it was developed in collaboration with the Gluten Unit of the National Center for Biotechnology (CSIC) to create a beer that maintains the organoleptic properties of real beer while ensuring gluten levels remain below 3ppm.
The beer is brewed in Barcelona using traditional ingredients like barley malt, but it undergoes a specialized process where protease enzymes are added to hydrolyze the gluten. This technical innovation allows the beer to be safe for coeliacs while retaining the flavor profile of a classic Mediterranean lager.
The brand is owned and operated by S.A. Damm, a company with deep roots in Catalan history dating back to August Kuentzmann Damm's arrival in Barcelona in 1876. Today, it remains one of the largest independent brewery groups in Spain, with its products exported to over 100 countries worldwide.
