Scholl, widely known as Dr. Scholl's in some markets, is a historic brand synonymous with foot comfort and orthotics. The brand was founded in the early 20th century by Dr. William Mathias Scholl in Chicago, specializing in anatomical footwear and inserts designed to improve posture and relieve pain. Over the decades, the brand became a global leader in foot-related treatments, including wart removers, antifungal sprays, and moisturizing creams.
Today, the ownership of the brand is split geographically. The business in the Americas is owned by Scholl's Wellness Company, which was acquired by the investment firm Yellow Wood Partners from Bayer in 2019. In contrast, the international business (Europe, Asia, and other regions) is owned by Scholl Wellness Company as well, but under a separate transactional history that saw it pass through Reckitt Benckiser before also being acquired by Yellow Wood Partners in 2021. This move effectively reunited the global brand under one private equity umbrella while maintaining distinct regional operations and supply chains spanning China, Vietnam, and various European nations.
