Marcel's Green Soap was founded by Marcel Belt in the Netherlands. The brand was born when Marcel, a single father of three daughters, noticed his kitchen sink was full of plastic bottles containing aggressive chemicals. He decided to create a range of cleaning products that were sustainable, plant-based, and smelled fantastic. The brand quickly gained popularity for its 'Feel Good Cleaning' philosophy, focusing on 95% biodegradable formulas and bottles made from 100% recycled plastic.

Historically an independent Dutch success story, the brand underwent a significant ownership change in late 2023. It was acquired by The Green Collective, an organization backed by the investment firm Karmijn Kapitaal. This move was designed to scale the brand's international presence while maintaining its core mission of providing microplastic-free and vegan cleaning solutions. Production remains primarily centered in the Netherlands to maintain quality and minimize transport emissions.
