Ditsch is a historic German bakery brand renowned for its expertise in pretzel making. Founded in 1919 by Wilhelm Ditsch in Mainz, Germany, the company began as a small artisan bakery. Over the decades, it evolved from a local favorite into a major industrial producer of frozen and fresh pretzel products, pizzas, and other snacks sold in specialized retail shops and supermarkets.
The manufacturing operations are centered in Germany, particularly at sites in Mainz and Oranienbaum. To support its international growth, Ditsch expanded its production footprint to the United States. In 2012, the family-owned business was acquired by the Valora Group, a leading European convenience food and logistics provider. Valora has since integrated Ditsch into its 'Food Service' division, expanding its branch network across German train stations and high streets while growing the B2B wholesale business globally.
