Founded in 2014 by Daniel Szor, the Cotswolds Distillery became the first full-scale craft distillery in the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England. The brand is celebrated for its commitment to local sourcing, specifically using 100% Cotswold-grown barley for its whisky production, which is floor-malted at nearby traditional maltings.
While the distillery remains rooted in its English heritage, it attracted significant investment to scale its operations globally. In early 2023, the distillery became a cornerstone of Berry Bros. & Rudd’s portfolio through a strategic investment followed by acquisition interests to secure the brand's future. The production remains localized at its original site in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, where it produces a range of award-winning spirits including Gin and Single Malt Whiskies.
The ultimate ownership lies with the historic London-based wine and spirits merchant Berry Bros. & Rudd. This partnership has allowed the brand to expand its reach while maintaining the high-quality, artisanal techniques that define the English whisky category.
