KitKat is one of the world's most iconic chocolate brands, originally launched by Rowntree's in York, United Kingdom, in 1935 as Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp. The product was renamed Kit Kat Chocolate Crisp in 1937 and eventually just KitKat. In 1988, the Swiss multinational Nestlé acquired Rowntree's, taking global ownership of the brand.
The KitKat Ball variant, featured in the image, is a bite-sized format consisting of a crunchy wafer center coated in milk chocolate. Manufacturing occurs in several strategic locations globally; however, the 'Ball' format items sold across Europe are frequently produced at Nestlé's confectionery facility in San Sisto, Italy. Because Nestlé operates a massive global network, the specific manufacturing site can vary based on the retail market. Notably, in the United States, KitKat is produced under license by The Hershey Company, but global ownership remains firmly with Nestlé.
