Alpina is a renowned Swiss watch manufacturer with a history dating back to 1883. Founded by Gottlieb Hauser in Winterthur, the brand was initially part of the 'Union Horlogère Suisse,' a cooperative of watchmakers dedicated to high-quality manufacturing and innovation. Alpina became famous for its technical excellence, particularly with the 1938 launch of the 'Alpina 4,' which defined the standards for modern sports watches by being anti-magnetic, water-resistant, anti-shock, and made of stainless steel.

Today, the brand maintains its 'Swiss Made' heritage, operating from a high-tech manufacturing facility in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva. In 2002, the brand was acquired by Frederique Constant, which revitalized the name before both brands were purchased by the Japanese conglomerate Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. in 2016. Despite its Japanese ownership, Alpina remains a quintessential Swiss brand, designing and assembling its movements and luxury timepieces within Switzerland.
