Ovomaltine, known as Ovaltine in many English-speaking countries, is a Swiss brand of milk flavoring product made with malt extract, sugar (except in its original form), and whey. It was developed in Bern, Switzerland, by Dr. Albert Wander in 1904.
While the brand is global, the original Swiss version (Ovomaltine) continues to be produced primarily in Switzerland. In 2002, the brand was acquired by Associated British Foods (ABF) from Novartis. Today, ABF owns the planetary rights to the brand, except in the United States, where it is licensed to Nestlé.
