Bertolli Mediterranean Spread

Bertolli is a world-renowned brand with deep roots in Lucca, Italy, where it began as an olive oil business founded by Francesco Bertolli and his wife in 1865. The brand expanded globally over decades, becoming synonymous with Mediterranean flavors. In modern corporate history, the brand's various product categories have been split among different owners. While the olive oil business is owned by Deoleo, the margarines and spreads division (as seen in the image) was sold by Unilever in 2018 to KKR, which established Upfield (now rebranded as Flora Food Group). Since then, Bertolli spreads are produced in various facilities across Europe, including Germany and the Netherlands, following the acquisition. The packaging specifically notes it is not made in Italy in this instance, reflecting the complex logistics of modern food production.
