Radisson is a globally recognized hospitality brand with roots tracing back to its first hotel opened in Minneapolis in 1909, named after the French explorer Pierre-Esprit Radisson. For decades, it was a cornerstone of the American Carlson Companies. Over the years, the brand expanded into a complex network of sub-brands including Radisson Blu, Radisson RED, and Park Inn by Radisson, establishing a significant presence across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
In recent years, the ownership structure underwent a major shift. The brand was previously part of the Radisson Hotel Group, which was acquired by a consortium led by the Chinese state-owned Jin Jiang International. In a strategic move concluded around 2022-2023, the Americas division of the brand was sold to Choice Hotels International, while Jin Jiang retained ownership of the EMEA and Asia-Pacific operations. Today, the brand's global management is a split landscape between these two hospitality giants depending on the geographic region.
