União is Brazil's most iconic sugar brand, founded in 1910 by the Companhia União dos Refinadores. It pioneered the sale of packaged sugar in the country, moving away from bulk sales. Over its century-long history, the brand has become synonymous with baking and household sweetening in Brazilian culture.

The product is primarily manufactured in Brazil, utilizing the country's massive sugarcane production capabilities. Since 2012, União has been part of Camil Alimentos, one of the largest food companies in Latin America. Camil acquired the brand from Cosan (Cia. Energética de São Paulo), marking a significant shift in its portfolio toward high-value retail consumer brands. Today, União maintains a dominant market share in the Brazilian sugar segment with various products from refined to natural demerara versions.
