Mövenpick ice cream is a premium global brand that originated in Switzerland, founded by Ueli Prager in 1948 as part of the Swiss hotel and restaurant group. The ice cream itself was launched in the 1960s, quickly becoming famous for its use of natural ingredients and Swiss culinary standards.
Today, the ownership structure is split. While the Mövenpick Group owns the brand rights for hotels and restaurants, the rights for ice cream were acquired by the Nestlé conglomerate in 2003. Currently, the brand is managed by Froneri, a joint venture between Nestlé and PAI Partners. In the European market, particularly for products found in Germany, the manufacturing is primarily handled by Froneri's German plants in locations like Osnabrück.
