Verbatim is a historic brand in the storage media industry, originally founded in the United States in 1969. The Vi550 S3 is a 2.5-inch SATA III Internal Solid State Drive designed as a cost-effective upgrade for laptops and PCs.

While the brand was originally American, it spent many years under the ownership of Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation before being sold to CMC Magnetics Corporation in 2020. Today, the majority of Verbatim's hardware products, including its SSD lineup, are manufactured in China through the global supply chain of its Taiwanese parent company.
