Arnold is a legendary name within the model railway hobby, renowned for being the pioneer of the N-scale (1:160) standard, which it introduced as 'Arnold Rapido' in the 1960s. Originally founded in Nuremberg, Germany, the brand set the global benchmark for small-scale precision engineering in hobby railroading. Following financial difficulties in the 1990s, the brand was acquired by the Italian company Rivarossi before eventually becoming part of the Hornby Hobbies portfolio.
Today, the production of Arnold models has largely shifted to manufacturing facilities in Asia to maintain competitive pricing while preserving the technical intricacies required by adult collectors. Now under British ownership, Arnold continues to release highly detailed replicas of European locomotives and rolling stock, maintaining its position as a market leader in the N and TT scales for enthusiasts worldwide.
