Roco model trains

Roco is a premier brand in the model railway industry, originally founded in Austria in 1960 by Karlheinz Rössler. The company initially gained fame for its highly detailed plastic military vehicles (Minitanks) before expanding into high-fidelity H0 and N scale trains. Throughout the decades, Roco became synonymous with engineering precision and technical innovations such as the 'Roco Line' track system and advanced digital control systems like Z21.

Following financial restructuring in the mid-2000s, the brand was integrated under the umbrella of Modelleisenbahn GmbH. Today, it operates as a flagship brand within the Modelleisenbahn Holding, alongside the German brand Fleischmann. While its engineering and development heritage remains rooted in Bergheim, Austria, the physical manufacturing has largely transitioned to specialized production sites in Romania and Vietnam to maintain competitiveness in the global hobby market.
