R.M. Williams is an iconic Australian brand founded in 1932 by Reginald Murray Williams. Born in the Australian outback, the brand gained worldwide fame for its handcrafted leather boots, particularly the 'one-piece-of-leather' Chelsea boot design developed alongside an Aboriginal stockman known as 'Dollar Mick'. The company's heritage is deeply rooted in the rugged requirements of the Australian bush, yet it has evolved into a global symbol of luxury and durability.

Manufacturing remains centered at the brand's workshop in Salisbury, South Australia, where hundreds of craftsmen and women continue to produce the signature leather boot range using an intensive 70-step manual process. While the core leather products are proudly made in Australia, some apparel and accessory items are sourced from global manufacturing partners. The brand's signature logo, a Texas Longhorn cattle head, reflects its pastoral origins.

Ownership of the brand has transitioned through several hands, including the Cowley family and a period under the French luxury conglomerate LVMH (via L Catterton). In 2020, the brand returned to 100% Australian ownership when it was acquired by Tattarang, the private investment group of Dr. Andrew Forrest and Nicola Forrest. This acquisition marked a significant homecoming for the brand, ensuring its future remains firmly tied to its Australian roots.
