DYMO began in 1958 as a developer of embossing tools, a technology that created hard-wearing plastic labels. Based in California, the company revolutionized the way physical spaces and items were organized. Over the decades, DYMO transitioned from mechanical embossers to sophisticated thermal printing technology, becoming a global standard for both home organization and professional industrial marking.

In 2005, the brand was acquired by Newell Brands (then Newell Rubbermaid). Today, DYMO is a key part of the Newell Brands portfolio, benefiting from its global distribution network. While the brand has American roots, its manufacturing is distributed internationally, with production facilities and assembly occurring in multiple locations to serve its vast global market including North America, Europe, and Asia.
