Lipton is one of the world's most iconic tea brands, famous for its yellow label and sun-inspired logo. Originally founded in Glasgow, Scotland, by Sir Thomas Lipton in the late 19th century, the brand revolutionized how tea was sold by making it accessible and affordable through innovative packaging and direct sourcing from tea estates in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka).
Manufacturing of Lipton products occurs in multiple countries across the globe to serve local markets efficiently. Large-scale production facilities are located in countries such as the United Arab Emirates (home to the world's second-largest tea packing plant), Poland, India, and Indonesia.
In terms of ownership, Lipton has undergone a major transition. For decades, it was a cornerstone of the Unilever portfolio. However, in 2022, Unilever sold its tea business—then known as ekaterra—to CVC Capital Partners. The brand now operates under the entity 'Lipton Teas and Infusions,' which is headquartered in the Netherlands and remains the world's leading tea company.
