La Española is one of the world's most recognized and historic olive oil brands, tracing its roots back to 1840. The name pays homage to the island of Hispaniola, where Hernando Colón (son of Christopher Columbus) planted olive trees in the 16th century. This particular organic extra virgin olive oil is produced following strict ecological farming standards, ensuring that no chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers are used during the cultivation of the olives.
Today, the brand is manufactured and bottled in Spain, primarily at facilities owned by its parent group in the Andalusian region, which is the heartland of Spanish olive oil production. The production process emphasizes traditional cold-pressing techniques to maintain the nutritional integrity and flavor profile of the oil.
La Española is owned by Aceites Abril and the Acesur Group (Aceites y Proteínas S.A.), a major Spanish food conglomerate. Acesur is a family-owned multinational that manages the entire lifecycle of the product, from harvesting and refining to global distribution, exporting to over 110 countries.
