BIC is one of the most recognized brands in the world, founded in 1945 by Marcel Bich and Édouard Buffard in France. The company initially focused on fountain pen parts before launching its iconic 'BIC Cristal' ballpoint pen in 1950. Since then, the brand has expanded into pocket lighters (launched in 1973) and disposable razors (launched in 1975).

Manufacturing for BIC products is highly globalized to maintain cost efficiency. While the company maintains significant production facilities in France, it also operates major factories in Greece (specializing in razors), Brazil, Mexico, and the United States. Today, the brand remains under the control of the Bich family, operating as a publicly traded company on the Euronext Paris exchange, with headquarters remaining in Clichy, France.
