BKI coffee

BKI foods is a prominent Danish coffee roastery with a history dating back to 1960. Originally founded as Brasiliansk Kaffe Import, the company has grown from a small family-led import business into one of the largest coffee suppliers in Denmark. The brand is deeply rooted in Danish coffee culture, known for its expertise in sourcing beans globally and roasting them locally at its facilities in Højbjerg, near Aarhus.

While the raw coffee beans are sourced from various regions worldwide—including a dedicated partnership with farmers in Brazil under 'Project Paraíso'—the final production process, including roasting, grinding, and packaging, is centralized in Denmark. The company remains a family-owned entity, maintaining its independence in a market often dominated by global conglomerates. BKI is also a major player in private label coffee production for the Scandinavian retail sector.

Under its current leadership, BKI has integrated significant sustainability goals, becoming the first Danish-owned coffee company to have its climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This focus on both traditional craftsmanship and future-oriented sustainability defines the brand's identity today.
