Tomos, which stands for Tovarna Motornih Vozil Sežana, was a legendary motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1954 in Sežana, within what was then Yugoslavia (modern-day Slovenia). Initially, the brand established its reputation through a licensing agreement with Puch, an Austrian manufacturer, to produce robust and affordable mopeds. Over the decades, Tomos became an iconic symbol of mobility across Europe and the United States, particularly known for its reliable 'Colibri' series and the ubiquitous 'Automatic' models.

Following its peak of success and international distribution, the company faced significant financial challenges and changes in ownership during the transition to a market economy. Despite several attempts to revitalize production in the 21st century, the company entered liquidation in early 2019. While the manufacturing facilities in Koper have ceased official mass production, the brand remains a beloved name in the collectors' market and vintage motorcycle community worldwide. Ownership of the intellectual property assets has transitioned through various entities closely tied to Slovenian industrial groups and creditors during its dissolution process.
