Mantecol is an iconic Argentine peanut-based nougat or semi-soft halva, originally inspired by Greek halva but adapted to local tastes with peanuts. Founded in 1940 by Georgalos, a company established by a Greek immigrant, it became a cultural staple in Argentina. In 2001, due to a financial crisis, the brand was sold to the multinational Cadbury Schweppes.

Today, the brand is owned by Georgalos once again, following a significant acquisition in 2022 from Mondelēz International. While ownership has changed hands between global giants and its original creators, the product continues to be manufactured primarily in Argentina to maintain its traditional texture and flavor profile. It is widely recognized by its red and white packaging and the signature 'Clásico' variety shown here.
