LU (Lefèvre-Utile) is a legendary French brand of biscuits, famously founded in Nantes, France, in 1846 by Jean-Romain Lefèvre and Pauline-Isabelle Utile. The brand is renowned for creating iconic products such as the Petit-Beurre and the Petit Écolier (Little Schoolboy). For many decades, LU operated as a family-owned business before becoming a major player in the global snack market.

Over the years, the brand underwent several ownership changes, notably being acquired by BSN-Gervais Danone in 1986. However, in 2007, Danone sold its global biscuit business to the American multinational Kraft Foods. In 2012, Kraft Foods split into two companies, and the global snacking business, including the LU brand, became part of Mondelēz International.

Today, LU products like Prince and Petit Écolier are manufactured in multiple locations across Europe, including France and Belgium, to serve international markets. Mondelēz International, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, continues to manage the brand as part of its extensive portfolio of global snack and confectionery leaders.
