Advil is one of the world's most recognized brands for ibuprofen-based pain relief. Originally introduced to the market after ibuprofen was approved for over-the-counter use in the 1980s, the brand quickly became a household name for treating headaches, fever, and minor aches.

The Advil brand was originally created by Whitehall-Robins, a division of American Home Products (which later became Wyeth). Over the decades, the brand has passed through significant corporate mergers. In 2009, Pfizer acquired Wyeth, taking ownership of Advil. Later, in 2019, Pfizer and GSK (GlaxoSmithKline) merged their consumer healthcare businesses into a joint venture called Haleon.

Today, Haleon operates as an independent, global leader in consumer health, headquartered in the United Kingdom. While the brand is British-owned, Advil products are manufactured in various facilities globally, including major sites in the United States, Puerto Rico, and other international locations to serve different regional markets. In Canada, it is distributed and managed by the local subsidiary Haleon Canada.
