Berchtesgadener Land Kefir

Berchtesgadener Land is a premium German dairy cooperative located in Piding, at the foot of the Bavarian Alps. The brand is well-known for being the first dairy in Germany to offer organic products and for its strong commitment to ethical farming practices, including higher pay for farmers and non-GMO feeds.

All Berchtesgadener Land products, including their Kefir, are manufactured exclusively at their single production site in Piding using mountain milk from local farms in the Alpine region between Lake Waging and the Königssee. Unlike many major food brands, the company is a cooperative (Genossenschaft), meaning it is owned by the approximately 1,600 farmers who supply the milk, ensuring it remains independent from large international food conglomerates.
