Haribo Piratos is a classic salty liquorice product with a rich heritage in Northern Europe. Originally launched in 1955, Piratos was created to cater to the Scandinavian preference for strong, ammonium chloride-flavored liquorice. The 'Salty & Soft' variant shown here is a modern take on the original extra-strong recipe, offering a more pliable texture while retaining the iconic coin-shape and pirate-themed branding.

The brand Haribo was founded in Bonn, Germany, by Hans Riegel in 1920, and the name is an acronym of the founder's name and the city (HAns RIegel BOnn). While Haribo is a German company, many of its liquorice products, including Piratos, have been historically manufactured and managed through its Danish subsidiary to serve the Nordic markets specifically. Today, Haribo remains a family-owned global leader in the confectionery industry, maintaining its headquarters in Germany while operating production facilities across the globe.
