Celebrex is a well-known prescription medication used to treat pain and inflammation. It contains the active ingredient celecoxib and was originally developed by G.D. Searle & Company (which was later acquired by Pharmacia, and subsequently by Pfizer).
The brand has a complex corporate history. In 2020, Pfizer spun off its Upjohn division and merged it with Mylan to create a new global healthcare company named Viatris. Consequently, the commercial rights and ownership of Celebrex in many international markets, including Europe and parts of Asia, transitioned to Viatris. For many regional markets like Italy (as indicated by the Italian text on the box), the brand is managed under the Viatris umbrella, although manufacturing often takes place in various global pharmaceutical hubs established by its parent companies.
