Spee is a historic German laundry detergent brand originally launched in 1968 in Genthin, East Germany (GDR), by VEB Waschmittelwerk Genthin. It was famously created as an acronym for 'Spezial-Entwicklung' (Special Development). Following German reunification in 1990, the brand was acquired by Henkel, a major German multinational consumer goods company.
Today, Spee is positioned as a value-oriented brand with the slogan 'Qualität zum schlauen Preis' (Quality at a smart price). While its historical roots are in the Genthin factory, Henkel now manages its production through a modernized supply chain centered in Germany and neighboring European facilities. The brand remains a staple in the German market, particularly known for its 'Spee Fuchs' mascot and various specialized formulas like the Sensitive version shown here.
