Philips Hue is a globally recognized brand in the smart lighting industry. Originally developed by the Dutch technology giant Philips, the Hue product line pioneered consumer-grade wireless lighting systems. This specific product, the Solo Lightstrip, represents the modern evolution of the brand, featuring Bluetooth connectivity and wide-range color ambiance capabilities.
While the lighting hardware is synonymous with the Philips name, it is now managed by a separate corporate entity. In 2016, Philips spun off its lighting division into Philips Lighting, which was later renamed to Signify N.V. in 2018. Although the brand still uses the iconic Philips logo under license, the strategic direction, research, and technical development are driven by Signify.
Manufacturing for the Philips Hue ecosystem is largely centralized in specialized electronics hubs in China, though the company maintains a global supply chain to support its vast international market. The brand remains a leader in the IoT (Internet of Things) space, focusing on integration with major smart home ecosystems like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit.
