Essity is a global leader in hygiene and health, headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. The brand's journey began as part of the Swedish forestry and paper company SCA (Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget), which was founded in 1929. Recognizing the distinct nature of its consumer goods business compared to its forest products division, SCA spun off its hygiene arm in 2017 to create Essity as an independent, publicly traded entity. This move allowed the company to focus exclusively on health and hygiene categories such as tissue paper, incontinence products, and professional hygiene solutions.

Today, Essity operates a massive global manufacturing network with approximately 90 production facilities located in about 150 countries. Its manufacturing footprint is strategically placed near major markets in Europe, North America, and Latin America to ensure efficient distribution of well-known global brands like TENA and Tork. The company recently underwent a significant portfolio shift by divesting its majority stake in the Asian hygiene company Vinda to focus on higher-margin categories. As a sustainability-focused leader, Essity is recognized for its science-based climate targets and is a major player in the professional and consumer hygiene sectors worldwide.
