Citroën is a quintessential French automotive brand founded in 1919 by André-Gustave Citroën. It became famous for revolutionary engineering, such as the Traction Avant and the iconic DS. For much of its history, it was part of the PSA Group (Peugeot Société Anonyme), which formed after Peugeot acquired Citroën in 1976.
Today, Citroën is a key brand within Stellantis NV, a multinational automotive giant created in 2021 through the merger of PSA and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. While its heritage and design remain deeply rooted in France, the manufacturing of modern models like the C4 and the electric ë-C4 is centralized in Spain at the Villaverde plant. This reflect globalized production strategies where French engineering meets international manufacturing hubs under the umbrella of a Netherlands-headquartered parent company.
