Alpro, originally known for its pioneer work in plant-based nutrition, was founded in Belgium in 1980. The brand initially focused on soy-based products before expanding into a wide variety of plant-based alternatives, including almond, oat, and coconut milks. Their 'Almo' or almond-based range is one of their most popular globally.
Today, Alpro is the European market leader in the plant-based category. Since 2017, the brand has been a key part of the Danone group, following Danone's acquisition of the American company WhiteWave Foods. Manufacturing takes place in several high-tech facilities across Europe, with major hubs located in Wevelgem, Belgium, and Kettering, United Kingdom, ensuring a wide distribution network across the continent and beyond.
