Originally developed by Bennison Osborne in the 1920s as a successor to his earlier invention, 'Granose,' the brand officially launched in Britain in 1932. The product has since become a staple of the UK breakfast table, prized for its high fiber content and minimal sugar profile.

While the brand maintains deep roots in the UK—sourcing the majority of its wheat from within a 50-mile radius of its factory in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire—it has undergone significant corporate ownership changes. After being owned by the founding family for decades, it was acquired by Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst in 2004, followed by a period under the Chinese state-owned enterprise Bright Food beginning in 2012. Today, the brand is owned by the American food conglomerate Post Holdings, which ensures the brand's global distribution while maintaining its traditional manufacturing base in the British Midlands.
