Kanjers is a prominent Dutch snack brand specifically famous for its modern take on the traditional stroopwafel. Originally launched in 1995, Kanjers was the first brand to offer large, individually wrapped syrup waffles (stroopwafels) under a brand name in the Netherlands, targeting people on the go. The product shown is the milk chocolate-covered caramel waffle, which combines the classic Dutch spiced cookie and syrup filling with a decadent chocolate coating.
Manufacturing takes place in the Netherlands, primarily at dedicated waffle bakeries. The brand was originally created by Banketgroep, a specialized Dutch pastry and waffle manufacturer. In 2016, Banketgroep was acquired by the French industrial bakery group, Brioche Pasquier. Consequently, while the brand remains deeply rooted in Dutch culinary tradition and local production, its ultimate ownership resides with a major French family-owned food conglomerate.
