The product is famously manufactured in the UK, primarily at the company's historic mills in Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire. A cornerstone of the brand's identity is its commitment to sustainability and local sourcing, with the majority of the wheat used in production grown within a 50-mile radius of the Northamptonshire factory.

Ownership of the brand has changed several times over the decades. Originally family-owned for nearly 70 years, it was sold to private equity firms in 2004 and later to the Chinese state-owned enterprise Bright Food in 2012.
