Yaxell Zen is a prestigious line of high-quality Japanese cutlery crafted in Seki, Japan—the historic capital of samurai sword making. Each knife is forged using traditional techniques combined with modern metallurgy, typically featuring a VG10 super-steel core clad in multiple layers of Damascus stainless steel. The hammered (Tshuchime) finish visible on the blade is characteristic of the Zen series, designed to prevent food from sticking.
Since its founding in 1932, the Yaxell Corporation has remained a family-owned entity based in Japan. Unlike many kitchenware brands that have been acquired by large global conglomerates, Yaxell maintains its independence and continues to manufacture its products exclusively in its own factory in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture. This commitment to local craftsmanship ensures that every blade meets the high standards and heritage associated with authentic Japanese knife making.
