Bernard Free is a prominent non-alcoholic beer produced by the Family Brewery Bernard located in Humpolec, Czech Republic. The brand is well-known for its distinctive packaging featuring the face of Stanislav Bernard, who revived the brewery in 1991. The brewery emphasizes traditional brewing methods, including non-pasteurization, to maintain a craft quality even in their non-alcoholic variants.
The history of the brand dates back to when Stanislav Bernard, Rudolf Šmejkal, and Stanislav Vávra purchased the bankrupt Humpolec brewery at auction. Today, while it remains a family-oriented brewery, it is partly owned by the Belgian brewing group Duvel Moortgat, which holds a 50% stake. This partnership has allowed the brand to expand its presence internationally while maintaining its local manufacturing roots in the Vysočina Region.
