The Bosch Tassimo system represents a significant collaboration in the world of home coffee brewing. Originally developed by Kraft Foods (now JDE Peet's) in France in 2004, the Tassimo system utilizes unique 'T-Discs' that contain a barcode read by the machine to adjust water temperature, volume, and brewing time automatically.
While the technology and brand originated with Kraft, the hardware is manufactured under a long-standing partnership with the German engineering giant Bosch. Bosch has been the primary manufacturer of Tassimo machines since 2008, taking over from previous partners like Braun. Most modern Bosch Tassimo units are manufactured in high-tech facilities in China to ensure global distribution and cost-efficiency.
Ownership of the brand ecosystem is split between the beverage technology and the physical hardware. The Tassimo drink brand is currently part of the JDE Peet's portfolio, whereas the appliance seen here is produced and warrantied by BSH Hausgeräte GmbH (Bosch and Siemens Home Appliances), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Robert Bosch Stiftung located in Germany.
