The brand played a pivotal role in popularizing coffee culture in Europe, particularly through the introduction of the SENSEO® coffee pod system in collaboration with Philips.

Today, the brand is owned by JDE Peet's, which was formed after a series of mergers involving Mondelēz International and Jacobs Douwe Egberts.
