Royal Crown Cola, commonly known as RC Cola, carries a rich heritage dating back to 1905 when it was formulated by pharmacist Claud A. Hatcher in Columbus, Georgia. Originally developed under the Union Bottling Works, the brand became a pioneer in the beverage industry, being the first to introduce canned soda and the first to market a diet cola globally. Its classic formulation, often featuring cane sugar as seen in this specific premium bottling, remains a favorite for those seeking a traditional southern-style cola experience.
Today, the brand's ownership is split geographically. While the North American rights are held by Keurig Dr Pepper, the international rights—including those for the European market—belong to RC Cola International, a division of Cott Beverages. In the Czech and Slovak markets, the product is manufactured and distributed under license by Kofola ČeskoSlovensko a.s. This local production ensures that the beverage, while maintaining its American identity and original recipe, is bottled fresh within the region using local resources.
