Tefal is a renowned French manufacturer of kitchenware and small appliances, perhaps most famous for creating the non-stick cookware category. The brand name itself is a portmanteau of the words TEFlon and ALuminium, reflecting its innovative roots in 1956 France. Over the decades, Tefal has expanded from frying pans into specialized kitchen electronics, becoming a pioneer in the air fryer segment with its ActiFry and Easy Fry product lines.
While the brand maintains a strong engineering and manufacturing presence in France—specifically for its premium cookware—most of its electronic appliances, including many air fryer models, are now manufactured in specialized facilities in China to remain globally competitive. Since 1968, Tefal has been a flagship brand of Groupe SEB, a French multinational conglomerate that dominates the small domestic appliance industry worldwide. Today, Tefal products are distributed across more than 120 countries, representing a blend of French design heritage and modern global industrial scale.
