Fry’s Electronics was a legendary American big-box retailer and brand known for its massive themed stores and broad selection of computer hardware and consumer electronics. Founded by the Fry brothers in California, the company became a cultural icon for tech enthusiasts, often featuring elaborate interior decors ranging from Mayan temples to space stations.
While Fry's primarily operated as a retailer, they also sold various private-label products and computer components. These items were manufactured through a global supply chain, primarily involving factories in China and Taiwan, which is standard for consumer electronics and computer hardware.
In early 2021, Fry's Electronics officially ceased all operations and closed its physical and online stores, citing changes in the retail industry and challenges from the global pandemic. The brand remains under the private ownership of the founding Fry family through their holding entities, though it no longer maintains a retail presence.
