Musashi is a well-established performance nutrition brand known for its protein powders, bars, and drinks. Founded in Australia in 1987, the brand was named after the famous Japanese swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, reflecting its philosophy of discipline and excellence in performance.
Starting as a small family-owned business specializing in amino acids, it grew rapidly within the Australian fitness industry. Over the years, ownership has transitioned through several major corporate entities. For a significant period, it was owned by Nestlé under its Nestlé Health Science division. In 2015, the brand along with other nutrition labels was acquired by Vitaco Health.
Today, Musashi is a key part of the Vitaco Health Group, which is headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand. Vitaco itself is owned by the Chinese based consortium formed by Shanghai Pharmaceuticals and Primavera Capital. While the brand has deep Australian roots, manufacturing usually occurs across facilities in both Australia and New Zealand, depending on the specific product line and supply chain requirements.
