Twizzlers is one of North America's oldest and most iconic candy brands, known primarily for its distinctive licorice-style twists. Originally established in the late 19th century by the Young & Smylie company in New York, the brand has evolved into a staple of the confectionery market. This specific variant, 'Pull 'n' Peel,' was introduced in the late 20th century to offer a playful, interactive texture compared to the classic solid twists.
The brand passed from Young & Smylie to the Y&S Candies company, which was eventually acquired by The Hershey Company in 1977. Since then, Hershey has expanded the brand's footprint significantly. Production is carried out in modern manufacturing facilities, most notably in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and Memramcook, New Brunswick, to supply the vast North American market. The presence of bilingual labeling (English and French) on this packaging indicates it is a product destined for or manufactured in the Canadian market through Hershey Canada.
