Seafolly is a quintessentially Australian brand that has been at the forefront of beach lifestyle fashion since its inception in 1975. Born on the sunny beaches of Sydney, it was originally founded by Peter and Yvonne Halas. Over the decades, it evolved from a local swim label into one of the most recognized swimwear and beach lifestyle brands globally, known for its bold prints and high-quality construction.
The brand's journey has seen significant corporate transitions. After decades as a family-owned business, a majority stake was acquired by L Catterton (a private equity firm linked with LVMH) in 2014. Following some financial restructuring in 2020, the brand is currently owned by the Mascot Group. Despite these shifts in corporate structure, Seafolly maintains its core identity as an Australian heritage brand with its headquarters remaining in Sydney, Australia.
While Seafolly is designed in Australia, its manufacturing is decentralized to meet global demand and maintain technical standards. Production typically occurs across multiple countries in Asia, including China and Vietnam, where specialized textile factories handle the intricate designs and elasticated fabrics synonymous with the brand. This global supply chain allows the brand to distribute its wide range of hats, swimwear, and accessories to boutiques and department stores worldwide.
